My reason for painting is to express colour in all its beauty. I also expand my abilities through constant experimentation. I don’t seek to push some form of ideology or political agenda at the viewer. This may not be the popular view, but to me, a painting should be first and foremost, a painting. Meanings are extra layers, not the foundation. I am inspired by The Modernist tradition, and the concept of emphasizing a material's 'competency', In my case, the flatness of paint and it's saturated pure colour.
